Apple To Announce New Device At 1PM ET

Apple takes the wraps off what is widely expected to be a smaller iPad at an event today at the 1920’s vintage California Theater here.

As the worldwide shift to mobile devices quickens, the rumored iPad Mini has captured most of the buzz surrounding Tuesday’s new product preview. The company also is expected to unveil a refresh of its Macintosh computer line.

.New models of the iMac desktop machine, MacBook laptops and the Mac Mini component computer are likely, predicts Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu.

The pricetag for the smaller iPad is one of the big questions surrounding today’s event. Wu expects the new compact iPad to have a 7-inch screen (down from 9.8 inches for the big iPad) and sell for $299 to $349.

“The big surprise would be if it comes in at the lower end,” he says Wu.
