TMZ reports that Davy Jones, lead singer for 1960s pop group the Monkees, died earlier today in Florida of a heart attack. He was 66.
Born in Manchester, England, Jones joined the Monkees in 1965 and performed with the group until 1971. The band was initially assembled by television producers for the TV show “The Monkees”. Their hits included “Daydream Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville”.
