A suicide bomber reportedly disguised as a soldier struck in Yemen on Monday, killing as many as 96. The bomber struck a group of soldiers gathered near the presidential palace in the capital. The soldiers were preparing for a military parade organized in honor of a national holiday to be celebrated Tuesday. Dozens of bystanders were wounded, and first responders rushed to the scene to take away the wounded. Soldiers who witnessed the attack said that they thought al Qaeda may have been behind the strike. Yemeni forces launched an attack less than two weeks ago against Islamic radicals with ties to al Qaeda in one of the country’s southern provinces.
