Iran Earthquake Toll Reaches 300

The Iranian government has raised the number of fatalities from Saturdayโ€™s twin earthquakes to 300 after 50 additional people died in hospitals, officials said. The magnitude of the twin temblors in the earthquake-prone nation measured 6.4 and 6.3 on the Richter scale and reportedly completely destroyed six villages, causing serious structural damage in at least 130 more. A series of 36 aftershocks shook the region, terrorizing residents in a wide radius around the disaster zone. An additional 3,000 people are reported to have been injured in the quakes.
