Alison Lundergan Grimes leads Mitch McConnell in the 2014 Kentucky Senate Race, according to a new poll released by a pair of liberal groups.
The results—compiled by Public Policy Polling—state that Grimes, Kentucky’s Secretary of State, tops McConnell 45-44 among Kentucky voters. The poll also said that 51 percent of Kentucky voters disapprove of McConnell’s job performance.
In a statement, Grimes campaign senior advisor Jonathan Hurst said: “It’s no surprise that Kentucky voters have had enough of Mitch McConnell’s partisan gridlock. For thirty years, McConnell has been the embodiment of all that is wrong with Washington and has no problem turning his back on Kentucky’s middle class.”
The polling was done on behalf of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America. The margin of error was 2.8 percent and it polled 1,210 Kentucky voters. The question asked: “If the general election for U.S. Senate were held today, and the choices were Republican Mitch McConnell and Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes, for whom would you vote?”
