Tests confirm National Zoo’s panda cub is a girl

The 2-week-old panda cub born at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., is a female, zoo geneticists have confirmed. Her father is the Zoo’s panda Tian Tian.

Scientists confirmed the second, stillborn cub Mei Xiang delivered on Aug. 24, 2013, was a female and the cubs were fraternal twins.
