In the same episode that featured an extended cameo by Rachel Maddow, The Simpsons’ local news anchor Kent Brockman made his way from Springfield to “cable news alley” in New York City where he briefly considered entering the big time at Fox News.

“Is this really how i want to get back in the big leagues?” Brockman wondered, before briefly checking in on print journalism by asking a local news stand clerk if he sells The New York Times. “Sir, we are the New York Times,” the man replied.
Eventually, he made it into the News Corp. building, where he learned the secret behind Fox News’ success. “Sorry, but I just discovered I have some scruples,” Brockman told the Fox executive. “I’m going back to my sweet little town where I can decide what news is, like a god.”[source]
