As temperatures rise to 108 degrees in Australia, tennis players are voicing concerns about playing in the Australian Open during the heat wave.
Comparing the situation to playing tennis in a sauna, most players have to cool off between points with bags of ice. One player, Canadian qualifier Frank Dancevic, fainted mid-match.
“Itβs hazardous to be out there. Itβs dangerous,” Dancevic said, criticizing the tournament for not having suspended play. “Until somebody dies, theyβre just going to keep playing matches in this heat.”
