A source close to the family confirms Nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez has died at age 87.

Garcia Marquez was hospitalized in the last month for infections in his lungs and urinary tract.

The Colombian author’s 1967 novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude” sold more than 50 million copies in more than 25 languages.
