The United States beat Ghana 2-1 on Tuesday evening to win its first opening match in the World Cup since 2002.
Clint Dempsey scored just 32 seconds into the match, the fastest goal in the team’s World Cup history, and John Brooks scored the go-ahead goal on a header in the 86th minute. Ghana knocked the United States out of the previous two World Cups.
