Poachers Killed ‘Satao’, Beloved Kenyan Elephant Known For His Giant Tusks

'Iconic' elephant killed by poachers in Kenya

Poachers in Kenya have killed one of the last surviving ‘tusker’ elephants – animals with tusks so large they reach the ground.

50-year-old Satao was living in Tsavo East National Park in northern Kenya but had become a target for poachers, who were using GPS and mobile phones to track him.
