Starbucks to roll out wireless phone chargers in US

Starbucks announced it plans to install Powermat’s wireless charging stations at its coffee stores across the U.S., starting with the San Francisco Bay Area. The company says it will expand the service to major U.S. cities in 2015.

The deal is a major victory for Powermat and the Power Matters Alliance, which remains embroiled in a standards war with the Wireless Power Consortium, purveyor of the Qi charging standard, The Verge reports.
