A team of scientists at Case Western Reserve University report that two patients with sensors attached to artificial hands have had a restored sense of touch for more than a year. They are even able to pluck the stalks out of cherries. At the same time, a Swedish team announced it has made a separate breakthrough, this time involving artificial limbs. The team says it can now attach a bionic arm directly to the bone to improve control.
