Pakistan Cop Chops Up Man for BlasphemyA man taken into police custody in the city of Gujrat, Pakistan, was hacked to death by a police officer for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the companions of the Prophet Muhammad. The murder comes just two days after a Christian couple was beaten to death and then burned in a kiln for blasphemy in the same province. In this case, a man named Tufail Haider, 55, was arrested after a group of people accused him of making blasphemous remarks. โ€œOfficer Faraz Naveed brought him to the police station and sent him to lockup. Haider did not stop using nasty words about Sahaba [a religious figure] despite warnings from various officials,โ€ said police officer Khurram Shehzad. โ€œAt around 5 a.m., Naveed could not control his emotions. He went into his cell, brought an axe, entered the lockup and hit Haiderโ€™s throat several times.โ€
