NFL owners unanimously approved a revised personal conduct policy on Wednesday in wake of criticism over the league’s handling of several domestic violence cases.
Under the new policy, a special counsel for investigation and conduct will oversee initial discipline, but Commissioner Roger Goodell will retain authority to rule on appeals. The policy also includes a more extensive list of prohibited conduct and specific criteria for paid leave for players charge with a crime of violence.
