Two prospects for the U.S. men’s ski team were killed in an avalanche in the Austrian Alps. The team is “in shock,” U.S. Alpine director Patrick Riml said.
Ronnie Berlack, 20, of New Hampshire, and Bryce Astle, 19, of Utah, were development-level skiers.
“Ronnie and Bryce were both outstanding ski racers who were passionate about their sport – both on the race course and skiing the mountain,” Tiger Shaw, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO, said in a comment on the ski team’s website.
