A seven-year-old girl walked through the woods and sought help from a nearby home after a plane crash which reportedly killed her parents, sister and cousin on Friday.
A Piper PA-34 that carried two adults and three children was en route to Mount Vernon, Illinois from Key West, Florida on Friday evening.
The pilot reported engine problems to air traffic controllers and requested to divert to the Kentucky Dam State Airport. Moments later, the twin-engine aircraft crashed in a wooded area in Lyon County.
A seven-year-old girl survived the crash, went to a nearby house and told a resident about the accident.
“She told me that her mom and her dad were dead, and she was in a plane crash, and the plane was upside down,” said Larry Wilkins in an interview with NBC News. He said the child’s leg and nose were bleeding. After cleaning her a bit, Wilkins called 911 for help.
The girl sustained non-life threatening injuries but is in great emotional distress. According to NBC News, the victims have been identified as Marty Gutzler, Kimberly Gutzler, Piper Gutzler and Sierra Walder.
