Possession of ecstasy, crystal meth, ketamine, magic mushrooms and more than 100 other drugs were legalized in Ireland on Tuesday, due to an accidental loophole in the drug laws. The state court of appeals, which ruled in favor of a man who was convicted of possessing illegal drugs, said that the current law banning certain substances was unconstitutional. As a result, all government orders banning a big list of drugs became null and void. The embarrassed Irish government rushed to draft a new law after the ruling, and pressed to get it approved in parliament as soon as possible on Wednesday. But to many ravers’ delight, it is seems that it will go into effect only on Thursday evening. In any case, 125 drugs are still considered illegal as ever, among them heroin and cocaine.
