Operations began by Saudi Arabia on Thursday against Houthi rebels in Yemen, hours following the rebels seized control of the military base employed by U.S. authorities for drone strikes. Warplanes have apparently started bombing the airport in Sanaa’s capital city. Yemeni Leader Rabbo Mansour Hadi left his home. The White House claimed Thursday that Obama approved intellect and logistical assistance towards the Saudi-directed operations. “While U.S. forces are not taking direct military action in Yemen in support of this effort, we are establishing a Joint Planning Cell with Saudi Arabia to coordinate U.S. military and intelligence support,” White House said.
