A seventh-inning brawl between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals Thursday night led to the ejection of five players, including both starting pitchers. Tensions began when White Sox’s Jose Abreu was hit in the left elbow by a Yordano Ventura pitch in the fourth inning and the Royal’s Mike Moustakas was hit in the upper right arm by a Chris Sale pitch in the fifth. A fight broke out after White Sox’s Adam Eaton hit a comebacker at Ventura and the pitcher shouted an expletive before throwing to first base for the out. The two were quickly restrained by umpires but both teams soon descended on the field for the scuffle. Chicago’s Sale and Jeff Samardzija were ejected and Kansas City’s Ventura, Lorenzo Cain and Edinson Volquez were also tossed.
