Three Killed in Texas, Oklahoma Floods [VIDEO]

Three people were killed, including a firefighter, and eight people are missing after heavy rains and flooding swept parts of Oklahoma and Texas through Sunday. Hundreds of homes are underwater and a thousand residents were evacuated in San Marcos, Texas, as emergency crews assessed the damage, said Hays County emergency-management coordinator Kharley Smith. The Oklahoma City metro area has had the rainiest 40 days and 40 nights in the city’s history, with 20.46 inches. The Blanco River in Texas’ Hays County rose to 40.2 feet, breaking a record crest by nearly six feet and causing “catastrophic flooding,” the National Weather Service said. Heavy rain and winds in Houston caused an apartment building to collapse, injuring two people. The poor weather conditions are expected to continue into next week for the Plains, Texas, and the Mississippi Valley.
