Apple has agreed to pay royalties to artists during a free trial period for its new music streaming service, after Taylor Swift called out the company Sunday and threatened to pull her album 1989. Appleβs Eddy Cue, a lieutenant to CEO Tim Cook, responded to Swift in an announcement that the company would change its policy to pay artists during the three-month free trial period. βWe hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple,β he posted. Swift quickly responded, βI am elated and relieved,β she tweeted. βThank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.β
