A massive response by police and security officers to a report of a possible shooter at the Navy Yard turned up no evidence of a gunman or weapons.
The FBI and District Columbia police gave the ‘all clear” around 10 a.m. EST and have reopened local streets around the 41-acre facility, which is located less than a mile south of the U.S. Capitol.
Police were particularly alert to any reports of a possible incident at the Navy Yard, which was the scene of a mass killing by a lone gunman in 2013.
