Minutes before Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman began his escape from a Mexican prison to a mile-long tunnel where he disappeared from authorities where release from a surveillance footage on Wednesday. The video shows Guzman changing his shoes before heading into the shower to bend down and never to return. Mexican Interior Minister Miguel Angel Osorio Chong said while the notorious drug kingpin was videotaped 24 hours a day, the surveillance had two blind spots in the shower and on the toilet, which Guzman used to his advantage. The interior minister said Guzman also wore a monitoring bracelet to watch his movement, but the device was left in his cell before he crawled into the tunnel. Osorio Chong said it’s likely prisoner workers helped Guzman escape.
