Police probes a triple homicide in Florida suspected to be a Wiccan ritual killing coinciding with last week’s so-called blue moon, officials said Tuesday. The three victims—an elderly mother and her two adult sons—were found during a welfare check Friday in Pensacola, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said. Morgan said investigators were looking into the possible connection to the blue moon, which occurs when there are two full moons in the same calendar month. Police said they have interviewed a person of interest who is known to practice “witchcraft,” while the method of murder and positioning of the victims’ bodies indicate it was part of a ritual. There was no sign of forced entry and the person of interest knew the family, Morgan said.
