Pope Francis Departs For White House [VIDEO]

President Obama will welcome Pope Francis to the White House on Wednesday with an elaborate ceremony in front of an expected 15,000 people on the South Lawn. The leader of the Catholic Church will arrive at the South Portico of the White House and be escorted to a stage, where he and Obama will listen to a Marine band play both the pontifical anthem and β€œThe Star-Spangled Banner.” Both will speak briefly as well. According to The New York Times, β€œan arrival ceremony on the South Lawn ranks among the most regal of pageantries that Washington has to offer, reserved usually for the most important of visitors and even then for special occasions.”
