John McCain Questions Cruzโ€™s Eligibility [VIDEO]

Arizona Sen. John McCain weighed in on the eligibility of Canadian-born Sen. Ted Cruz to be president on Wednesday, saying the decision might be left to the Supreme Court. โ€œI donโ€™t know the answer to that,โ€ McCain said on The Chris Merril Show on Phoenixโ€™s KFYI550. McCain added that he faced a similar question when he was the Republican nominee in 2008 because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone when it was a U.S. territory. โ€œYeah, it was a U.S. military base,โ€ he said. โ€œThatโ€™s different from being born on foreign soil, so I think there is a question.โ€ Cruzโ€™s mother was a U.S. citizen living in Canada at the time of his birth. Donald Trump raised the issue when he told The Washington Post this week that the Texas senatorโ€™s Canadian birth would be a โ€œbig problemโ€ for the Republican Party if he won the bid.
