Breitbart Reporter, Editor Resign Over Trump Rally ControversyBreitbart reporter Michelle Fields and Editor at Large Ben Shapiro announced their resignation over the conservative site’s handling of the alleged assault by Donald Trump’s campaign manager, BuzzFeed reports. Fields and Shapiro told Breitbart News Chairman Steve Bannon they planned to leave Sunday night. “Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” said Fields, the reporter at the center of the controversy. “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week and because of that I believe it is now best for us to part ways.” Shapiro also issued a statement saying he believed Breitbart’s management sold out the legacy of the founder and namesake, Andrew Breitbart. “In my opinion, Steve Bannon is a bully, and has sold out Andrew’s mission in order to back another bully, Donald Trump,” Shapiro said.
