Florida police said they found two alligators snacking on human remains in a canal Monday night. Although the body appeared to have been in the water for a long time, the cause of death is unclear. Officers armed with AR-15s stood by in the town of Southwest Ranches, near Fort Lauderdale, while an alligator trapper worked to separate the animals from the body. It was reportedly recovered around 10 p.m. βWe want to identify who the victim is and possibly figure out what happened to them and how did they end up here,β said Sgt. Pablo Castaneda. βCould it be homicide? Could it be suicide? Could it have involved a fisherman? We donβt know.β A spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said itβs too soon to know if the alligators killed the victim. βIf we determine that an alligator was the cause, then weβll go back and recover it,β she said.
