Republican National Convention Speakers Schedule Dates

Republican National Convention Speakers Complete List

The platform committee met on Monday and Tuesday. The Republican National Committee held its summer meeting Wednesday, July 13.

The convention rules committee meets Thursday and Friday, July 14-15. That’s where anti-Trump delegates are expected to push for a “conscience clause” that would allow delegates to vote for whichever presidential candidate they want on the first nominating ballot.

Kendal Unruh, a Colorado delegate who’s a leader of the Dump-Trump effort, needs to get 28 people on the 112-member committee to back her plan for it to advance to a vote before the full convention.

1 p.m. Convention opens. The lineup of speakers and votes for this session โ€” and the following days’ programs โ€” will be released soon, organizers say. Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton is expected to speak to delegates Monday night, his office says. He said he’ll talk about the military and veterans.

TUESDAY, JULY 19

5:30 p.m. Tuesday session begins. Generally the roll call of states, in which Trump’s name would officially be placed into nomination, is held during this session. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he expects to speak at the convention Tuesday night.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20

7 p.m. Wednesday session begins. The vice presidential nominee generally speaks on Wednesday night. Potential vice presidential candidates include Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin.

THURSDAY, JULY 21

7:30 p.m. Thursday session begins. Usually the nominee closes out the convention, so you can expect Donald Trump to speak on this night.

Donald Trump’s family members, close political associates and several celebrities will be among those speaking at next week’s GOP convention in Cleveland.

The chairman of the Republican National Convention early Thursday released a partial list naming more than 60 individuals including Trump’s wife, Melania, Trump’s four adult children and political figures he’s grown close to during the campaign.
