4 Killed, Dozens Injured in Thai Attacks on Tourist Areas [VIDEO]

A series of coordinated bombings targeting foreign tourists Friday killed at least four people in Thailand, and injured dozens of others in some of the country’s most popular beach towns and resort areas. Two blasts went off in the seaside city of Hua Hin late Thursday, leaving one woman dead and more than 20 wounded, including at least 10 foreign tourists. That attack was followed by two more bombings in Phuket on Friday morning, and blasts were also reported in Trang and Surat Thani, authorities said. One person was killed in each of the four bombings, according to Agence France-Presse. The motive for the attacks is unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility yet. Authorities were alarmed that the perpetrators seemed to target foreign tourists. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha told journalists the bombings were “an attempt to create chaos and confusion,” adding, “Why the bombs occurred as our country is heading towards stability, a better economy, and tourism—and who did it—you have to find out for me.”
