The newly discovered emails that thrust Hillary Clinton‘s private email server back into the national forefront were discovered during the investigation of former Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner‘s sexting.
“Federal law enforcement officials said Friday that the new emails uncovered in the closed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server were discovered after the F.B.I. seized electronic devices belonging to Huma Abedin, an aide to Mrs. Clinton, and her husband, Anthony Weiner,” The New York Times reported.
The FBI announced in September that they were opening an investigation into Weiner’s conduct, after The Daily Mail reported that he had exchanged sexually explicit messages with at least one underage girl. Weiner famously was forced to resign from Congress after his sexting habit became public, and later had his sexts go public on two other occasions.
Weiner and his wife Abedin, Clinton’s closest aide and confidante, announced that they were splitting earlier in the year after his latest sext showed him flaunting his bulge in the vicinity of their son.
