In an interview with a Spanish radio show on Friday, actress Salma Hayek said Donald Trump once tried to date her and didn’t take it so well when she turned him down. “When I met that man I had a boyfriend and he tried to become his friend to get my home telephone number,” Hayek said on the El Show del Mandril program, according to BuzzFeed. Hayek said Trump eventually did get in touch with her but she turned him down, adding that she “wouldn’t date him even if I didn’t have a boyfriend.” Soon after rejecting him, Hayek says, she came across a story in a tabloid claiming Trump had turned her down due to her height. Trump then called her up and asked, “’Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you ,’” she said. Hayek said she suspected Trump had planted the story himself. “He thought that I would try to go out with him so people wouldn’t think that’s why he wouldn’t go out with me,” she said. Trump has yet to comment on the story.
