The U.S. economy added 156,000 jobs in September, according to a Department of Commerce report released Friday—the last one before Election Day. Economists attribute a slight uptick in the unemployment rate to 5 percent to Americans re-entering the job search. According to revised figures from the government, 167,000 jobs were added in August and 252,000 were added in July.
