Tens of thousands of protesters gathered across the United States Thursday night into Friday morning to continue protesting the election of Donald Trump. Along with demonstrations in New York, Baltimore, Washington, and Los Angeles, more than 4,000 protesters flooded downtown Portland, Oregon. Police responded with tear gas and “non-lethal” munitions” and arrested 26 people as a group started damaging property and throwing objects at police. Earlier in the day, students from at least 10 schools in San Francisco marched through the streets, carrying flags and chanting, “Hey hey, ho ho, Donald Trump has got to go!” On Twitter Thursday night, Trump called the protests “very unfair,” only to add that he “love[d] the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country” Friday morning. More protests are expected later in the week in additional cities, including Miami, Dallas, Louisville, Kentucky, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
