Ben Carson Turns Down Trump Cabinet Role

Ben Carson Turns Down Trump Cabinet RoleBen Carson rejected a role in President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet, The Hill reported on Tuesday morning. According to the retired neurosurgeon and former Republican primary candidate’s close friend and manager Armstrong Williams, β€œDr. Carson was never offered a specific position [in the administration], but everything was open to him.” Ultimately, Williams said, β€œDr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.” The Hill reported from a β€œCarson ally,” however, that Carson was specifically offered a job as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Trump has recently described Carson as a β€œbrilliant physician” who β€œwill be very much involved with my administration.” Williams indicated that Carson will serve an unofficial advisory role to a President Trump.
