Ben Carson Turns Down Trump Cabinet Role

Ben Carson Turns Down Trump Cabinet RoleBen Carson rejected a role in President-elect Donald Trumpโ€™s cabinet, The Hill reported on Tuesday morning. According to the retired neurosurgeon and former Republican primary candidateโ€™s close friend and manager Armstrong Williams, โ€œDr. Carson was never offered a specific position [in the administration], but everything was open to him.โ€ Ultimately, Williams said, โ€œDr. Carson feels he has no government experience, heโ€™s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.โ€ The Hill reported from a โ€œCarson ally,โ€ however, that Carson was specifically offered a job as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Trump has recently described Carson as a โ€œbrilliant physicianโ€ who โ€œwill be very much involved with my administration.โ€ Williams indicated that Carson will serve an unofficial advisory role to a President Trump.
