From the Rose Garden, President Obama spoke of his plans to “do everything I can” to help President-elect Donald Trump “smoothly and peacefully” transition into the White House. Obama has invited Trump to visit the Oval Office on Thursday to discuss those plans. “It is no secret that the president-elect and I have some pretty significant differences,” Obama said, pointing out the same was true of his predecessor, President George W. Bush. “Ultimately, we are all on the same team,” he continued. “We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading the county. The peaceful transition of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy, and in the next few months, we are going to show that to the world.” Obama specifically addressed young people Wednesday. “Don’t get cynical,” he said. “Don’t ever think you can’t make a difference.”
