President-elect Donald Trump pledged in an interview set to air on 60 Minutes Sunday night to deport two to three million undocumented immigrants with criminal records. “What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump said. “But we’re getting them out of our country, they’re here illegally.” The total U.S. prison population is 2.2 million, so it is unlikely that there are as many as two or three million undocumented criminals roaming free. Once the border is secure, Trump added, his administration will make a determination as to how many of the remaining undocumented immigrants living in the country will be deported. The president-elect confirmed that he is still committed to building a wall along the southern border with Mexico.
