President Donald Trump imposed new sanctions on Iran on Friday morning, days after White House officials warned Tehran of being put “on notice” for its ballistic-missile test firings last weekend. The executive order targeted individuals and companies, and resemble the moves made by the Obama administration after previous tests. The White House has not accused Iran of violating the nuclear deal. The new sanctions mark the beginning of a more agressive policy against Iran, as Trump promised during his 2016 presidential campaign. A top adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei previously stated that Iran would not yield to “useless” threats from “an inexperienced person” over its missile program.
