President Trump on Tuesday reportedly joked about using his power to destroy the career of a Texas state senator. According to White House pool transcripts of a meeting with representatives from the National Sheriff’s Association, Rockwall County’s Sheriff Harold Eavenson complained about a state senator “getting in the way” of an unnamed objective, to which Trump responded: “Want to give his name? We’ll destroy his career.” The sheriff then declined the offer, which was extended in front of reporters in the Roosevelt Room and Oval Office. According to The Dallas Morning News, Eavenson is in line to become president of the National Sheriff’s Association.
