Trump to Senate GOP: Go Nuclear on SCOTUS Vote

Trump to Senate GOP Go Nuclear on SCOTUS VoteOn Wednesday President Trump said that he would be fine with the Senate changing rules to pass his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, with just 50 votes as opposed to the necessary 60 required now. β€œYes, if we end up with the same gridlock we’ve had in Washington for longer than eight years, in all fairness to President Obama, a lot longer than eight years,” the president said in response to a question about invoking the nuclear option. β€œIf we end up with that gridlock I would say, β€˜If you can, Mitch, go nuclear.’ Because that would would be an absolute shame if a man of this quality was put up to that neglect. I would say it’s up to Mitch, but I would say, β€˜Go for it.’” Senator Ted Cruz has recently said that the nuclear option is on the table should Democrats choose to filibuster the selection of Gorsuch. When President Obama appointed Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, Garland was never given a hearing.
