President Trump on Friday threatened to end White House press briefings because, he tweeted, “as a very active president with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!” He suggested instead distributing “written responses for the sake of accuracy.” Trump’s tweets come in response to outcry following the White House’s portrayal of the firing of former FBI Director James Comey; Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters one version of events during Wednesday’s briefing, but was directly contradicted by Trump on Thursday. Sopan Deb of The New York Times noted: “The other option is that [surrogates] can be instructed to always tell the truth and be transparent.”
…Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???
