Trenton Garmon, the attorney for Roy Moore’s foundation who called Don Lemon “lemon squeezy” last week, is not quite done making strange comments about the hosts of the cable news shows he’s on.
MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle asked Garmon on Wednesday, “Why would he need permission from any of these girls’ mothers if they weren’t underage?”
Here is how Garmon answered, referencing Ali Velshi:
“That’s a good question. And culturally speaking, I would say there’s differences. I looked up Ali’s background there and wow, that’s awesome that you have got such a diverse background, it’s really cool to read through that.”
Ruhle interjected, “What does Ali’s background have to do with dating a 14-year-old?”
Garmon started to talk about arranged marriages (seriously), and Ruhle immediately jumped in to say, “Ali’s from Canada.”
Velshi himself didn’t quite know what to make of this.
The segment got heated from there, but after the interview wrapped, Ruhle flipped out on Garmon again and asked what in God’s name that was about.
Velshi dryly said, “There’s nothing cultural about my background that helped me to understand what that conversation was about.”
