On Saturday afternoon a Kentucky man was arrested after he assaulted Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) at Paul’s residence. It is being reported that the Kentucky lawmaker suffered minor injuries from the altercation.
According to police, 59-year-old Rene A. Boucher “intentionally assaulted Paul causing minor injury.” The police responded to a call at the senator’s home at 3:21 PM today and later made the arrest. Boucher was charged with one count of fourth-degree assault and taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.
A spokesperson for Paul released a statement after the incident:
“Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault. The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine,” the statement read.
