Larry Nassar, a former USA Gymnastics doctor, admitted on Wednesday to sexually assaulting girls, several of whom were underage, under the guise of providing them medical treatment, The Detroit News reported. Nassar pleaded guilty to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and plans to plead guilty to three additional counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct next Wednesday, avoiding a trial set for Dec. 4. Three of the charges applied to victims who were under 13 years old, while another three were between the ages of 13 and 15. Several other charges were dropped as part of his plea deal, which involves a lifetime electronic monitoring. In all, Nassar had been charged with 22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and 11 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Several members of the “Fierce Five” USA Gymnastics team have also accused Nassar of sexual misconduct. Nassar is also awaiting sentencing after earlier also pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
