MS NOW: What’s Changing (and What’s Not)

On November 15, MSNBC becomes MS NOW — a new name with the same DNA: progressive journalism, deep-dive analysis, and the personalities that set the Beltway agenda. The rebrand formalizes independence from NBC News as the channel moves under Versant, with its own newsroom, a beefed-up Washington bureau, and international coverage via Sky News distribution.

What is MS NOW?

MS NOW is the new brand name for MSNBC, an acronym for “My Source for News, Opinion and the World.” Expect familiar prime-time heavyweights and a newsroom designed for faster booking and earlier interviews in each cycle.

Why the rebrand now?

Cord-cutting is accelerating, linear bundles are shrinking, and the network is being spun off into Versant alongside other cable channels. Dropping the peacock is both symbolic and strategic: an independent identity competing in a fragmented market.

“Same mission. New name.”

The launch campaign is rolling out with concise on-air promos from marquee talent (including Rachel Maddow) reassuring viewers that everything that matters — values, storytelling, and where to find the channel — stays the same.
