Results from the trial studying the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 have shown effective results.
The companies said the vaccine is safe for children. It establishes a strong antibody response against covid-19. A 2 dose regiment 21 days apart for children between 5 and 11 years old was administered in the study. Side effect were the same as seen in older age groups. A smaller dose was used in this trial but the anti-body response was strong in the trial group of children.
The company can now submit it’s results to the FDA and other world regulatory agencies for approval. This should take a month to six weeks.
Parents everywhere are happy about this as it comes at a time where the Delta variant of covid is ravaging unvaccinated parts of the country and world.
